01
Entry permission and arrival declarations are different
A visa, K-ETA and an arrival declaration serve different purposes. Check official guidance for the passport you will use, your purpose of travel and your route. Your departure country or website language does not determine your eligibility. Temporary exemptions also have conditions and expiry dates.
If you need an electronic arrival declaration, the official service allows free submission from three days before arrival in Korea. Prepare your passport, email address, arrival date, flight and accommodation details. Some travellers, including eligible holders of a valid K-ETA, are exempt from the declaration. Submitting it does not replace a visa or K-ETA.
A valid K-ETA does not automatically settle declaration requirements: the official guide says that K-ETA holders entering with a visa must still complete the e-Arrival card. Use the official eligibility guide for your actual entry status.

Save an offline arrival information pack
A saved map pin alone may not help when you have no connection. Keep an address screenshot or note too. Allow time for immigration, baggage collection and finding your way. Reaching your accommodation and eating one meal is a useful first-day priority.
- Save your arrival airport code, terminal and flight number.
- Keep your accommodation's Korean name, street address, phone number and check-in instructions.
- Match your arrival date to your first booked night, especially for flights crossing midnight. Confirm how to contact the property if late.
- Save a main and backup route from the airport, your booking confirmation and mobile connection instructions.
03
Compare the whole journey to the door
Train journey time is only part of the trip. Luggage, transfers, station exits and the final walk all matter. For Gimpo, Gimhae or Jeju arrivals, look up that airport's transport separately.
| Option | What to compare |
|---|---|
| AREX Express | Incheon Airport to Seoul Station. Include any onward transfer and walking to your accommodation. |
| AREX All-stop | Stops at intermediate stations. For Hongdae, compare the route via Hongik University Station. |
| Airport bus | Check the route, terminal, boarding point and walk from the arrival stop. |
| Taxi or booked transfer | Confirm the destination, total quote, tolls, extra conditions and official pickup point. |

Late arrivals: check transport and check-in
Look for transport you can catch after immigration and baggage collection, not at your landing time. Incheon Airport publishes late-night bus information, but routes do not serve every accommodation area.
For a booked transfer, read the flight-delay waiting policy. Tell your accommodation your expected arrival time. For self check-in, confirm how to open the door, when access codes arrive and which contact channel to use before leaving home.
